“Now I will avow, that I then believe, and now believe, that those general Principles of Christianity, are as eternal and immutable, as the Existence and Attributes of God; and that those Principles of Liberty, are as unalterable as human Nature and our terrestrial, mundane System.”
John Adams, June 28, 1813, in a letter to Thomas Jefferson
“Eternal and immutable” principles have this quality because they are based on truth, God’s truth.
We encounter God’s eternal principles all throughout the Bible. The Ten Commandments and other admonitions were given by God based on the principle that following these rules would produce harmony and happiness in human society.
The Seven Principles of Liberty, formulated by Rosalie Slater and first published in her “Teaching and Learning America’s Christian History, The Principle Approach,” form the bedrock of the FACE Principle Approach method of education.
To what extent does the U.S. Constitution model these principles?

- A principle is a basic truth that laws are built upon.
- Our U.S. government is set securely upon principles of liberty.
- Our Constitution protects and secures those principles of liberty.
“If we abide by the principles taught in the Bible, our country will go on prospering and to prosper; but if we and our posterity neglect its instructions and authority, no man can tell how sudden a catastrophe may overwhelm us and bury all our glory in profound obscurity.”
Daniel Webster
