“Upon these two foundations, the law of nature and the law of revelation, depend all human laws; that is to say, no human laws should be suffered to contradict these.”
Blackstone, William, Commentaries on the Laws of England, Vol. 1, (Dublin: Printed for John Exshaw, Henry Saunders, Samuel Watson, and James Williams, 1766), p. 42.
Man’s creation and lawful dominion over the things of the earth form our natural rights and basis of law. These rights are reflected in the development of England’s common law. Forces were attempting to turn England’s common law into civil law at America’s founding. Our forefathers created a society in keeping with God’s law and our inherent natural rights. This is reflected within our documents, law, and court opinions. However, America too, has gone off-track. Restoring our foundation comes down to correcting decisions made in ignorance over the last 170 years or more, and making better choices going forward.

- Each of us must decide who we are; are we of God or man? We are made in God’s image and likeness and granted lawful authority – dominion – over the things of the earth.
- Man’s natural rights are inherent in what God provided to man at his creation, but we only realize their benefits when following God.
- This requires an education in reason and faith, first of learning and second, doing, to inculcate discerning good from evil.
So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. Genesis 1:27-8, KJV
