Time to Build

by | FACE News

A time has come for us, as Christian Americans, to choose whether to build on the wisdom and knowledge our Republic has accumulated over 250 years or to discard it.

A deconstruction machine is running overtime, assuming nothing is worth building, and it’s fueled by media disinformation disguised as news. A generation of voters—a product of progressive government schools—spouts hate for America, undermines family life, declaims Christianity, an scorns law and order. It rends the heart of Western civilization.

Noah Webster warned that this disregard for Christianity and our Western culture tends toward greed, fear, envy, and hate—the enemies of a self-governing Republic:

In short, the privileges of free men are interwoven into the very feelings and habits
of the Americans; liberty stands on the immovable…basis of a general distribution of property
and diffusion of knowledge; but the Americans must cease to contend, to fear, and to hate,
before they can realize the benefits of independence and government, or enjoy the blessings,
which heaven has lavished in rich profusion upon this western world.

What are we building?

From the beginning, Scripture reveals a God who creates, orders, establishes, plants, cultivates, multiplies, and gives His people work. He commanded Adam to tend the garden. He called families to teach their children. He instructed His people to establish righteous laws and just communities. Throughout Scripture, we see the work of building—not merely structures, but lives, families
generations, and civilizations ordered according to truth.

A civilization is built on three pillars:

  • truth exists and is accessible to reason
  • good is distinguishable from evil
  • an inheritance is worth transmitting

Our Christian Republic stands on these three pillars. Our Founders were educated by a method
that taught them to reason from truth—the Word of God. They created a civil government based
upon the good of every citizen—as Webster noted, “property and knowledge.” And importantly,
they gave us an “inheritance of gold”—our national treasure of Christian character that informs
our culture.

How to rebuild our American Christian Republic

Our nation was built on the Christian character of our Founding Fathers and Mothers, formed by an education with the purpose of “instruction, enlightening the understanding, correcting the temper, forming manners and habits, and fitting youth for their future stations” (Webster’s 1828 Dictionary). These ideas formed a model of education, known as the Principle Approach®, that produced a generation who wrote the world’s greatest documents codifying liberty: the Declaration of Independence and the United States Constitution.

And that method of education is still building the next generation today.

A young man who attended FACE’s The Foundation Course, had graduated from a state university teacher preparation program. He had been trained in the latest secular educational philosophies. While sincere in his desire to teach, he questioned if teaching principles could truly make a difference in the classroom. Today, after three years of teaching in a Principle Approach demonstration school, this teacher is living proof of the transformational power of Principle Approach education. He now inspires his fifth-grade students to love America, learn about God’s providential hand in history, and understand the principles of Christian and civil self-government while guiding them toward academic mastery.

One teacher was changed. But the impact does not stop with him. It is multiplied through every student he teaches—and through the families those students will one day build.

Rebuilding one life at a time to touch many

If we want to rebuild our self-governing Republic, we must return to the historic model of education: educate our children in the principles of liberty, Christian character, and virtue.

This is not accomplished merely by teaching information but requires teaching them how to think— to reason from truth, to recognize cause and effect, to understand ideas and their consequences, to distinguish right from wrong, and to se their studies through a Providential worldview.

Train one teacher, and that teacher may influence hundreds of students. Train one school leader, and an entire school can begin building its educational program upon Biblical principles. That one school will influence and build a community.

This is why your support matters. It multiplies.

What will we leave behind?
Every generation faces this question. What will we leave our children?

Dependency—or self-government? Will we give them the tools to build something worthy of their inheritance?

At FACE, we believe the answer begins with education that teaches the bedrock principles of liberty, Christian self-government, and academic excellence.

This is why we teach America’s Christian history. This is why we continue to advance Principle Approach® education. This is why we safeguard the record of our Constitutional Republic in the Hall-Slater Library.

The future of liberty depends upon what the next generation understands, believes, and is prepared to do.

This fall, I am asking you to join FACE in a very simple but consequential commitment:

Together, let’s build teachers who know how to teach from a Biblical worldview, Christian scholars to prepare future leaders, and citizens who understand Christian self-government and the responsibility it demands.

But we cannot do this without you.

This is an important moment to take your first step with FACE. Because this work continues throughout the year, your support will make the difference between educating a new generation to understand and sustain liberty. Your gift is welcome and will advance this work immediately. It will allow us to build, teach, and prepare those who will carry these principles of liberty forward.

Your generosity makes this possible. You are helping build the kind of education that equips young people not simply to succeed in life, but to understand their responsibility to preserve our Christian Republic. The need is urgent, and your gift is important. It will have a greater impact than you can imagine.

A new generation, steeped in Christian character and love of God, is being prepared to lead and build with you.

Help us teach the children to build!

With gratitude,

Carole Adams
President

P.P.S. This fall, will you pass it forward? Will you help FACE continue the work of building? Your gift equips teachers and parents with the Biblical principles, training, and resources they need to prepare the next generation to lead and maintain our Christian Republic, safeguard the record of America’s Christian history in the Hall-Slater Library, and publish the Bible-centered K-12 curriculum parents need.

This Fall, will you help FACE build for the future? Consider joining Keepers of Liberty with a monthly gift or make a one-time gift today at FACE.net/donate. Thank you!
