“Government is a great fiction, through which everybody endeavors to live at the expense of everybody else.”
Frederic Bastiat, 1848 essay The State
Wealth redistribution in a society is a great evil and injustice. Taking from one through taxation and giving to another is a key tenet of socialism and does not belong in a nation ordered by Christian principles. The growth of wealth redistribution in our nation stems largely from the sense of entitlement that people have; they feel that they deserve things such as food, housing, health care, education, and other essentials of life. Noah Webster declares in his definition of entitle, “The labor of the servant entitles him to his wages.”

1. Human beings are not entitled to anything except payment for our work. We certainly should not and cannot expect that we will take money and possessions from our fellow human beings through taxation without their consent.
2. God’s design is for us to work to be able to enjoy the necessities and niceties of life.
3. It is a blessing to work, as this is God’s perfect plan for us. Adam and Eve worked in the garden before the Fall. We will work in heaven although all work will be enjoyable!
