The whole of the Christian life from the beginning to the end, is a conflict with the world and the power of darkness, a conflict within and without.
Neander
The misguided “promise” of the trending “cancel culture” to “protect” us from “wrong” beliefs, is a tyrannical move to cancel free speech, misrepresent recorded history, and suppress liberty under law. It robs individuals of their right to make choices according to their own consciences, and it targets our children as pawns of culture vultures.
As Christ followers, our task is to arm our children with the Word of God to meet all challenges in life including the current ones. The answer is found in John 17:17: Sanctify them in the Truth. Your Word is Truth.
The word sanctify means “To cleanse, purify or make holy. To appoint for a Christian use.” As Neander reminds us, our Christian life is in conflict with the world around us and “cancel culture” emphasizes this point. The solution is to sanctify our children in the Word of God so that they will discern Truth, know how to choose rightly, and stand boldly for Christ and for liberty.
Teach the Children:
- They live in two worlds—the physical one and the far more important spiritual one.
- The Word of God is a lens through which to access truth for every and all aspects of life, and it is His truth that sets us free.
- The Word of God is the path of life and in His presence is fullness of joy and pleasures forevermore. Psalm 16:11
