The Bible states unequivocally that we are God’s property, and yet God commands mankind to take dominion over the earth, an impossible task without the right to acquire and use property. Through “Thou Shalt Not Steal,” God created a right to use and enjoy our property. Is property also foundational to all our other rights? Does God expect us to use our property for His purposes?
