“The Event is in the Hand of God.”

Shortly before the Constitutional Convention began, George Washington, soon to be elected convention president, explained his conviction that God’s providential hand must guide the event. Was the U.S. Constitution indeed inspired of God, i.e., did its framers believe God played any role in its formation or ratification? How did the framers rely upon Biblical principles and allusions to scripture at the “Grand Convention?”
