“Your generation is now witness to a counterrevolution of sorts. Millions of Americans are asking for a reexamination of our culture and society with an eye to restoring ancient decency and looking to the good of past generations.”
Victor Davis Hanson, American Historian
The recent, horrific, public assassination of Charlie Kirk was played out in living color and stunned the nation. Many young Americans who loved and benefited from Charlie’s commonsense ideas about “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness,” rooted in Christianity and safeguarded by our Constitution, suddenly became aware of the price of liberty.
It was a “coming-of-age” moment for the youth of America, and at its core, it has called forth new courage and determination in the next generation of leadership to guard, protect, and nourish the culture, freedoms, and faith that Americans historically enjoy.
Finding the ancient landmarks
You shall not move your neighbor’s landmark, which the men of old have set, in the inheritance that you will hold in the land that the Lord your God is giving you to possess. Deuteronomy 19:14
As the old structures of bureaucracy and power politics crumble under the weight of false ideologies and lies, Americans have shifted from self-hating and shame to gratitude and confidence in the heritage we’ve been given. We must look for the ancient paths of wisdom to rebuild what is ruined, repair what is broken, and restore communities where people live safely and prosper.
To underscore this new realization, calls abound for a revival of American education that can produce a citizenry with the character that is capable of leading our nation forward. This requires a level of literacy grounded in a historic, proven philosophy of education.
Authentic American Christian Education, the Principle Approach®
The education of youth is the greatest determiner of the future and direction of our nation. What methods of education produce self-governing men and women who lead families, churches, communities, and form the seedbed of a self-governing nation?
The Principle Approach, authentic American Christian education, preeminent during our founding era, is vastly different from today’s progressive practices that indoctrinate Marxist, atheistic ideologies into the hearts and minds of our youth. The Principle Approach restores the academic skills necessary to understand abstract concepts, to reason from principles, and to think about liberty with law through the lens of a Biblical worldview.
Noah Webster, Father of American Education, pointed the way
How do we restore the Biblical worldview of education to our schools and homes? By teaching and training a new generation of leaders and Christian school teachers in a philosophy of education that “forms the habits and manners of youth and fits them for usefulness in their future stations,” (Webster’s 1828 American Dictionary of the English Language). Webster further notes that a “religious education is indispensable,” and “an immense responsibility rests upon parents and guardians who neglect these duties.”
Charting the course for a Christian civilization
Today, a new spirit of liberty rejects control and dependence. Young leaders favor family, faith, life, and freedom, and will be the moral navigators shaping our nation’s future. We have a window of opportunity to provide and underscore this movement of restoration.
Without the Biblical principles to understand who we are, we will lose our last foothold.
This new generation will chart the course for a Christian civilization. They will reestablish America’s purpose as a “light unto the world” for the gospel and liberty. Because of individuals such as you who take seriously the responsibility to ensure our youth have the opportunity for a “religious education” that teaches Christian character side-by-side with strong academic benchmarks, we have hope that we can and will “chart the course for a renewed Christian civilization.”
A vision for America’s future
The record of America as a Christian nation resides in the documented history of our founding. This record has been deliberately obscured to deprive the individual of his Christian heritage of liberty. The rediscovery of the Christian foundation of our country will restore Christian leadership in America. This knowledge needs to be part of the background of every individual engaged in the education of American youth.
Rosalie Slater, Teaching and Learning America’s Christian History
FACE co-founders Verna Hall and Rosalie Slater, through their research, laid the blueprint for restoring Christian and civil self-government to Americans. Today, that plan includes training Principle Approach teachers for schools and homeschools, and mentoring leaders of Christian schools that base their organizations on this Biblical philosophy.
Only by faith can we continue the arduous, but rewarding, calling of reeducating generations of youth in the Christian principles of government that once made us a free and independent nation. The battle moving in our direction, though it is far from won, but we are intent upon this opportunity to take back our nation for Christ.
