Robert “JR” Gurley, the President of the Frederick Douglass Foundation of Virginia and a Hampton Roads native, embarked on his ministerial journey at the age of 13. In 1999, following a life-altering recovery from a severe accident caused by a drunk driver, where JR was the sole survivor, he answered the call to ministry.
With the past 23 years dedicated to being a Full-time Pastor in Newport News, Virginia, JR has become an integral part of his community. Beyond his pastoral duties, JR has served as an Auxiliary Law Enforcement Officer, Community Organizer, Political Consultant, and Campaign Manager for federal, state, and local races.
JR also serves as the President of The End Black Genocide Organization and the Director of The LivingStone House of Prayer (Newport News). In these roles, he actively supports Pro-Life, Pro-Family causes, Christian Missions, and organizations committed to Social Justice, Fighting Human Trafficking, and Ending Abortion.
