John is a retired Naval Officer. Discipled very early on through the Navigators™, he later briefly attended Columbia Bible College and the Norfolk Bible Institute (Washington Bible College’s Norfolk, VA extension) in the 1980s. He holds degrees in Sociology (BS – Excelsior University), Geosciences (MS – Mississippi State), and Theology (MAT – St. Mary’s Ecumenical Institute in Baltimore.)
Additionally, he has many years of experience teaching in both Christian High Schools (Math/Science) and adult Sunday School classes. Most recently, he taught an adult Sunday School class entitled “An Apologetic Focus on Baptist Theology” which is an overview of the Baptist Faith and Message as informed by earlier confessions, such as the 1689. The aim was to prepare the students to address current societal issues (Acts 13:36) from a Biblical and confessional perspective.
A member of the International Society of Christian Apologists, he is something of a happily unrepentant “theology nerd” and lives in Chesapeake with his wife, Lynn, and their little 4-legged pal Boethos (the “Bo-Dawg.”)
