The authors of The 1619 Project reframe history, placing slavery as the foundation of our nation and repudiating the idea that America was founded on Biblical ideals. What is the truth on this critical understanding of our Founding and the implications for those living today? This series by Dr. Ferdon includes these topics:

• The character and nature of slavery in the west and non-west before the establishment of the American colonies
• The issue of slavery: American colonial legislation within the British Empire, to independence and statehood prior to the US Convention, including the rise of anti-slavery societies
• The reality of slavery and the US Convention: union, state jurisdiction, and Constitutional issues

Gai completed her Ph.D. in early modern British political thought with the University of Leicester, the United Kingdom, in 2004. Dr. Ferdon also holds a Master of Arts degree in Government and Public Policy from Regent University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Political Science from Indiana Wesleyan University.
